1999 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 Extended Cab 4x2 Long Bed Pickup
For consignment, a 1999 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 extended cab 4x2 long bed, showing 106,919 unverifiable miles. Our consignor wants you to know, this truck has been babied since day one and as a result, is a well preserved GMC. You don't have to live in the Sierra Mountains to own one and this comfortable truck might just be your next daily driver. Let's delve in, shall we?
Exterior
Pewter Metallic paint adorns this truck, and the flush mounted headlights and marker lights make for a very attractive face. The black grille has a chrome surround and the pair of robust tow hooks below the bumper say this truck means business. The matching Leer cap is a great addition and adds some nice coverage for cargo and the extended includes a set of doors with internal actuators. 16-inch wheels are chrome and support 235/75R16 tires with an early 2022 date code. In the back, you'll find a clean tailgate and trailer hitch, along with a third brake light on top of the cap. The bed itself has gotten some use which shows up as a few scratches, but the painted bed is also mostly gleaming and the cap is lined with cloth panels. The only imperfections we find are some rust bubbles on the rocker panel.
Interior
A swing of either door greets you with requisite plastic molded door cards, cloth inserts, and plastic buttons and door actuator in charcoal black. The thick bucket seats are cloth and look fairly fresh, regardless of miles, with only the slightest compression of the driver's seat. The back bench seat looks like it's never been used and could be photographed for a sales brochure. Impressive! The clean 4 spoke steering wheel is leather wrapped in charcoal and houses an airbag while a simple gauge cluster is just behind it with only pertinent gauges adorned with orange needles. To the right is the AM/FM/CD radio above the simple climate control panel. The rest of the charcoal dash is occupied by sculpted vents, the glove box, and an airbag panel in front of the passenger. A center console provides storage and cupholders just above the low pile black carpet is in nice shape and wear Weathertech type mats. The headliner is home to an overhead console and presents in a contouring coat of gray cloth coverage.
Drivetrain
The owner's care extends to the engine bay where a very clean 5.3 liter V8 is residing, fuel injected and backed by a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 10 bolt rear axle. Power disc brakes are found at all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Driver quality conditions prevail underneath with surface rust on just about everything except the body panel, but it's bone dry and free of dirt underneath. The single exhaust encounters a stock style muffler before exiting and the suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
We hop up into the cab where it doesn't feel or look like a 25-year old truck as it barely shows any use and the only evidence is the number that lights up green when you crank the key. The engine runs smoothly and carries us onto the test loop in fine fashion. Plenty of gusto in the 5.3 and visibility is something you get used to as the rear view penetrates two tinted windows before registering what's behind you. It's comfortable, smooth, and every function supplied by the truck works like a Timex watch! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
"But Classic Auto Mall, that's not a classic!" True, but since our early days it's come to our attention that car people need solid, clean pickup trucks to support their car or racing hobby. Plus, they didn't think a '65 C10 was classic back in the day, until it survived 50 years. So keep this one clean and take it to the bank because they will be rare in 25 years. In the meantime, you've got a great truck that some mechanics will tell you is a better bet than some 2024 models. You don't have to be Ansel Adams to appreciate this Sierra, so place that call as soon as you're ready!
