1987 GMC 2500 Pickup
Officially named the "Rounded-Line" trucks by GM, the 1973-1987 Chevy C/K trucks were known more casually as the "box-body" or "square-body" pickup. Sporting a new body style that incorporated rounded corners around the wheel well in addition to a rounded windshield and door frames, the third-generation Chevy C/K trucks had an entirely new look. Larger and wider, the pickups looked more box-like, which is why they were coined the "box-body" trucks.
For consignment a hauler, a 4x4, a comfy driver, a full size bed, all wrapped up in the now clear coated original two tone paint, some shiny running boards and the original window sticker wrapped up in a 70,094 title verified actual mile 1 owner package. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Exterior
Known as the rounded line as tagged by GM, the lines appear to be more square and rectangle than anything else. This includes a rectangular blacked out chrome trimmed grille with stacked square headlights in square bezel panels, a deep red GMC badge, and a shiny bumper below. Straight bright red factory steel wraps all sides and the bed. framing the white painted side inserts and all support well minded gaps. Some thin stainless trimmings finish off the wheel wells and straight clean body lines, with stainless trimmings below and orangish red and black pinstriping above the white along with clean badges make up the slab steel sides. Black trimmings surround the glass and for a little extra bling the drip rails are highlighted with shiny stainless trimming as well as clearance lights on the roof of the cab. The bed is covered with more of the original red paint, non clear coated, with just a bit of fade but nary a dent or any signs of heavy usage. This factory paint covers the sides and tailgate all remaining clean and mar free. 15-inch steel wheels are covered with ventilated wheel covers and are wrapped by like new 235/80R15 blackwall Firestone all-weather deep tread tires.
Interior
Red molded vinyl buttons up the door panels and these have a nicely contrasting brushed aluminum insert that holds the door pull and vies for space against padded vinyl armrests and a broadcloth insert. This panel is trimmed with a chrome delineation strip and down below is a carpeted band in red as well as chrome toggles for the power windows and locks. The original burgundy cloth bench seat with smooth dark red vinyl bolsters on the sides and tuck and roll cushions that make up the seating. The original dash is intact and looking clean with a multitude of inset round gauges within a brushed aluminum panel and a black plastic band is below and holds the headlight pull and the original AM/FM/Cassette stereo and an added Pioneer CD controller. The dash top is clean and shows no cracking or distortions and the lower is all steel in body matching red. Above is a lightly sagging red broadcloth headliner, and on the floors is clean medium pile red carpet with the transfer case shifter in the middle within its black housing.
Drivetrain
Under the hood within a clean and well-maintained engine bay is a 350ci V8 engine complete with EFI and a 700R4 4-speed automatic. 4.11 gears fill both the front and rear axles. Overall, the engine bay is free of any corroded parts and just shows some dirt and dust.
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the topside, the undercarriage appears to have never seen bad weather, and presents as original. Straight rust-free steel for the flooring and frame and cab floors retain their factory undercoated finish, meanwhile light surface rust has appeared on the usual suspects. Providing the truck-like ride are leaf springs both fore and aft and power disc brakes are on front, and power drums for the rear. A lightly surface rusted stock style exhaust system is on for the exhale.
Drive-Ability
A quick fire up and the engine came to life! This 2500 drove just like a truck should. Adequate acceleration, good braking and it handled all our test track had to offer. All mechanicals were working, and the interior proved to be visually appealing and comfortable thanks in part to the care and upkeep over the years.
A nice survivor example that has had only 1 owner throughout its history. A clean well-kept example with fairly low mileage for its age with all the charm of the days when trucks were trucks. Definitely worth a look, as it has lots of life left in this one's soul.
