1956 GMC 100 Pick up This truck was build before GMC and Chevrolet trucks totally different. Chevrolet dealers were not allowed to sell new GMC's back in the early days. GMC's were sold only by Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac. This truck came from the factory with a V8 engine, 317 CID Pontiac along with a turbo hydramatic. Brief history lesson for today. This ole truck was in really nice condition before it was. disassembled and underwent a total restoration. The old engine and tranny was replaced with a 455 Pontiac and a turbo 400. The old engine was configured in such a manner that AC was near impossible to install, hence the engine swap. The engine and trans were shipped to Jasper engines in Indiana for a total rebuild. The front chassis. was totally removed and all new components were replaced. The chassis is a unit built by TCI, of course PS and PB were installed coil over shocks, all this to allow the truck to drive as a late model PU. Interior had a new makeover with tilt steering column, Vintage AC, new instrument cluster was replaced with new Auto Meter units. The engine is basically a Ram Air, even the carb is a Ram Air unit, Pontiac cast iron headers sure make some sweet sounding HP. Driven 510 miles since restoration.
