Summers Sets SK-150 Fast Time At Speedbowl
Defending champion Rob Summers captured the Budweiser
Pole Trophy in qualifying for today’s Budweiser
Modified Nationals SK-150. Summers, the fourth car
out, turned a 24.408 seconds lap and then survived 24
challenges.
Rain came following the second set of heats resulting
in the Speedbowl running nine features on Sunday.
Second fastest time belonged to Speedbowl veteran Rob
Janovic Jr. who got around in 14.519. Third through
10th were James Civali, (14.629), Dennis Charette
(16.695), Shawn Monahan (14.728), rookie of the year
candidate Jeffrey Paul of Ledyard (14.744), Jimmy
Blewett (14.754), Ronnie Yuhas Jr. (14.761), five-time
Speedbowl champ Dennis Gada (14.768) and Frank Ruocco
(13.772).
Civali, a former SK-150 winner, was subbing was Jimmy
Horton.
The top six, eighth or 10 spots will be inverted for
today’s $5,000-to-win 150, the headline event for the
Modified Nationals.
Sunday’s action will begin with the Pit Party at 10:30
AM immediately followed by Midgets. The schedule will
continue with features for the Legends (25), Mini
Stocks (30), Allison Legacy Cars (25), Late Models
(50), Pro4 Modifieds (25), Sportsmen (30) and AllStar
Trucks (25) preceding the SK-150.
