(Stafford Springs, CT)---At the annual NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series promoters’
meetings in Daytona Beach, FL, Stafford Motor Speedway Online was the
recipient of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series achievement award for best
website. The award was presented by NASCAR President Mike Helton as part of
NASCAR’s team player awards that recognize outstanding promotional efforts
among the over 60 short tracks across the U.S. and Canada in several
different categories.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by NASCAR as the best website,” said Scott
Running, webmaster of SMS Online. “With SMS Online we try to give our teams
and their sponsors the most web exposure possible with graphics and images,
and we’ve added some new innovations over time to the site to make SMS
Online what it is today.”
SMS Online has grown leaps and bounds since its inception in the summer of
1996, serving the needs of both race fans and competitors alike.
Competitors are served with race forms, rulebooks, and an entire marketing
kit. During racing season, the site contains updated points standings, race
results, a photo gallery, and more. New for the 2005 season was the
addition of video replays of each feature event finish, with the winner’s
comments from victory lane included in the video presentation.
“We added the video content last season, and it proved to be by far the most
popular spot on the entire site,” said Running. “On a weekly basis we had
anywhere between 1,500 and 2,500 unique page views for each feature event
video.”
The site also features a preferred accommodations section, information about
the track, a box office section complete with a race schedule, season ticket
order forms, and a special event ticket order form, an up to date team
listing of each of Stafford’s five weekly divisons, a statistics section
complete with all-time feature winners lists, a classified ads section, a
section devoted to the Jack Arute’s Kids Club, a penalties section, a NASCAR
New England section, and timing and scoring from all of Stafford Motor
Speedway’s racing events.
